Teaching English Using Wordle and QR code

Hello everyone!
I'm back!
Today I'm going to share you my experience in technology session at BGSU.

My wordle

QR code
We learned to create wordle and QR code for language classroom purposes. I have seen many word clouds on google images and never thought that I can use them for teaching English. We actually can use wordle to teach vocabulary, to introduce a unit or topic,to teach writing, to teach literature and pre-reading activities such as the theme or the ideas in the reading. Of course, there are many ways to use wordle for your classroom and you can be creative with it. I am not going to explain here how to use wordle but you can go check www.wordle.net and see it for yourself. Oh..note it somehow does not work with google chrome but you can try Firefox or internet explorer.

The next interesting tool for teaching english is QR code. You may find QR code for your social media account or some items for pricing, but now what about using it in your classroom? Magical isn't it? So you can use QR code to create a survey for your students and you want to share the link to your students. So, instead of typing such a long link you can use QR code to make it quick. All you have to do is go to www.qrstuff.com and try it out! Good luck!

Preparing Service Learning Project

Hi everyone, It's me again!

It is such a blessing for me be part of 2016 English Access Microscholarship Program Service Learning Workshop at BGSU. I meet professional educators and fellows at American University and 23 professional teachers from all over the world. As I prepare for my service-learning experience, I have some expectations that I will be able to learn how community service works here and to effectively adapt and expand community service opportunities into my local community. Besides, by directly involved in the project and observation of service-learning from this program, it will be fruitful experience to plan and do service-learning for my classroom in the future.

Honestly, at first, I was concerned that I could not actively engage in the workshop and project connect on our third day of the workshop but the workshop team has injected us with insightful knowledge and skills to be prepared for the service learning project. I learned about La Connexion where immigrant people are welcome to learn English because they are struggling to live in the States and not be able to effectively communicate and associate in the community. The thing that is surprised me the most is that I heard that they are completely beginners and teaching English should be started from teaching word to word yet what amazes is that they keep coming to the class, make their time and learn English even though they obviously need to secure their economic life and work for their family.

SL session by Dr. Sarah Smith Rainey
In the end, I learned many things to care for the people by doing what I can do with my skills, to keep learning throughout my life, and to make time for life learning. Even starting with the simplest thing in life is more than enough. So, why don't we start from ourselves?

Getting started to first blogging experience

Hello everybody!

Our awesome technology instructor, Mark Stevens
I am super excited to learn about blogging today! I have always wanted to do some blogging and this is a great opportunity for me to utilize blog for educational purpose not only for me but also for my students. Blog is a great media to teach writing and students can get creative while practicing their English skill and reflecting on their learning experience.

I have awesome workshop today with Mark and the team. I have learned to create my own blog and customize it. In addition, I also have learned to connect with the other bloggers. It is very interesting for me and I am so excited to write more posts on my blog.
